6 October 2016 | 2:57 pmThirty-five years ago CARDV was founded and operated almost entirely by volunteers. In January of 1982 when we opened our first shelter it was a huge step in providing safety for survivors in Linn and Benton counties.
CARDV provides shelter to nearly 200 adults and children each year. All basic needs are met through donations by the community. We have given away countless bottles of shampoo, packages of diapers and tubes of toothpaste. Local quilting groups have provided thousands of quilts for survivors and their children.
Over the years, the City of Corvallis and several service groups have helped us update and renovate our shelters, giving residents a more comfortable experience.
In honor of our 35th anniversary, we are hosting a Shelter Shower to update many items in our shelters. We are excited to invite you to participate by donating new (and some like-new) items used by survivors including:
- Board games
- DVD’s and players (no VHS please)
- Children’s books (English and Spanish)
- Back yard toys, including sports equipment
- Infant and Child car seats (must be new)
- Full-size stroller (like-new accepted)
- Twin sheets (new or like-new)
- Infant play-yard/Pack-N-Play
- Coffee maker and electric kettle
(Or go to smile.amazon.com, log-in, select Lists, chick on Find a List or Registry, type in CARDV.)
Online registry items can be shipped to CARDV's Administrative Office:
